Kim and I went on a spur of the moment hike yesterday, October 5, 2024 to Robertson Cliffs. Roberston Cliffs are about 20 miles north of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, along the stunning eastern shore of Lake Superior.
I was making metric conversions in my head about how long this hike would take, not at all taking into account a 600 foot elevation change and climbing over rocks and streams. So, what I thought would be a 6 km hike of about 2 hours or so, became a 3.5 hour hike. The trail literature all indicated the trail was moderate in difficulty. I decided that the Canadian definition of moderate and the US definition were markedly different, until we met a Canadian couple coming down the hill who commented that this was a bit more than moderate.
Regardless, the view at the top of the cliffs was worth the effort, and the colors were absolutely amazing.
